Q:  What should I do if my child is going to be absent?
A:  If your child will be absent from school please call the office at 359-2300 no later than 8:30 a.m.  If your child will be tardy, you must notify the office at 359-2300 no later than 8:30 a.m. in order to secure a hot lunch. If you do not call your child tardy, they will not be counted for hot lunch and will receive an alternative lunch.

Q: What do I need to do to volunteer or chaperone for my child's class?
A:  If you would like to volunteer in the classroom or field trip, you must have a Criminal Background Check on file. Forms must be filled out at least a week prior to the event. Once you have one on file, you do not need to complete another one.

Q: What should I do if there is a change in dismissal after school?

A:  Please inform your child's teacher regarding afterschool procedures by sending a note with your child. If procedures need to change for any reason please contact the teacher directly, send a note.  Any changes should be communicated by 3:00 p.m. to ensure delivery of change.

Q: Can I have someone else pick up my child from school?

A:  Anyone picking up your child must be listed on the emergency card. If someone will be picking up your child early and is not listed on the form, they will not be released to that person unless you call and notify the school.


Q: Do I have to fill out an emergency card every year?
A: Yes, A new form must be completed at the beginning of every school year. If a change in address, number or emergency contact occurs you must come in and update the form in order to update the students database. 

Q: How do I contact my child's teacher?
A: Email addresses are available for each teacher. However, each classroom has a phone available.  Please contact your child's teacher for that phone number and the best time to call.  Getting the best time to calls is important since you wouldn't want to interrupt classes.

Q:  Is breakfast available in the morning?
A: Yes, breakfast is available for students in the morning.  Breakfast is served from 7:50-8:20 a.m.

Q:  What should I do if my child has a negative lunch account?

A: When your child's lunch account is low, you will receive a note from KUSD Food Services Office letting you how much money is left in the account.  Click here for account procedures.

Q:  How early may I drop off my child?

Supervision does not begin until 8:15 a.m.  Please do not drop off your child earlier than the stated times since there is no supervision and students are not allowed to wait in the building.
