Creative Arts

“There is a direct correlation between improved SAT scores and the length of time spent studying the arts.  Those who studied the arts four or more years scored 59 points higher on the verbal and 44 points higher on the math portions of the SAT than students with no coursework or experience in the arts.”

--Profiles of SAT and Achievement Test Takers, The College Board, 1995.

At the Edward Bain School of Language and Art, the art portion of our title comes from the neighborhood portion of our school that services students living within the school boundary.  We refer to this portion of our school as the Creative Arts and believe that we can increase student achievement and prepare our children for a brighter future by exposing them to the many different and diverse aspects found with in the arts.

Research indicates that children who participate in an arts program for multiple years experience increased achievement on standardized tests, higher classroom academic performance, and lower dropout rates.  We have learned that this holds true to all children, regardless of what socioeconomic background they come from.

Here at E.B.S.O.L.A. we are just in the initial phase of our development, yet we have been able to produce a number of wonderful integrated units, musical performances, and outstanding showcases of art.  We are very excited about continuing our direction in the arts and are always looking for outside agencies and experienced individuals to help us with our mission.

If you have a passion for the arts and have an interest in sharing your talents with the children, please feel free to contact us at the number listed on our home page.
